Beautiful and quietly elegant.
Of course, my wife, low these forty years, saw it and has that look of "And mine will be ready when?"
This I like, Do you have plans? I could wing it but I like to have plans. [email protected]

Thanks. Honestly, no plans. I had these pieces for years collecting dust so I just started cutting and building. Funny thing is that I didn't waste a single scrap of material (minus the shavings and dust!).
Couple other things - no power tools, all done by hand. I had every intention of installing hardware (hinges, lock, etc.) but the simplicity of the zebrawood lid with the apple handle (and the contrast of the grains) was too nice on its own to cut any further - I felt that less was more. I focused on making the lid fit perfectly and adding some complex shaped legs. Even the finish was a less-is-more thing - I had stains and poly standing by but boiled linseed oil with the right amount of sanding was right (I think). Hey... it's just a box - and it's meant to be used.
So nice an unique I guess everyone has a different inspiration of watching things, I will surprise my wife with a box i hope I an grab the idea of yours, I will search for the proper wood. Thank you.
Please share how you use the boiled linseed oil.
Thanks,
Gil
I really admire the lid handle.
