Koa & Walnut Jewelry Box

This is a box design that I got from Wood Magazine. It is made of Koa that we got on our trip to Kauai last year, and walnut. The finish is tung oil and shellac. I am giving it to my 12 year old daughter tomorrow for Christmas.

Very nice box, I am sure she will appreciate it. Did you bring the Koa back in your luggage or ship it back? I've often thought of purchasing wood during my travels.

I had it shipped back. It weighed way too much and was pretty unwieldy too. Unfortunately the shipping was really expensive, even at the lowest rate.

My daughter loved it - she actually teared up a bit when she opened it.

beautiful piece and beautiful work. I'm sure she will keep it for the rest of her life (or pass it down to her daughter).
Do you know what issue of Wood the plan is in?
