I made 3 sets of these trees for my wife, daughter and daughter-in-law. They get a lot of positive comments from friends and relatives. The 3 sizes are 13.5″ x 6″, 12″ x 4.5″, and 10″ x 4″. They are made up of 4 quarter hickory laminated into a large block. adding a base of walnut, and a star topper of walnut is added as the last step. I turned them to shape, made the cuts with a parting tool, and burned the ornaments into the wood, then finished with gloss polyurethane.

A fun project. Bet they have appreciative owners. Ever try a thinned, green oil paint for a finish and a light-colored wood for a star?
