New Hampshire Hexagonal Candlestand
Dunlop Brother’s 18th Century reproduction New Hampshire candlestand
Cherry and Tiger Maple
The Dunlap Brothers made unique furniture. This candlestand is a simple, and I think a beautiful, example. The top and base of the post are hexagonal.
The legs are joined to the post with pegged mortise and tenon, rather than the sliding dovetail used in other (eg, Shaker) furniture. The hexagonal portion of post was made on a tablesaw using technique described by Christian Becksvoort in FWW #85 (Cherry clothes tree).
