My First Piece! My wife’s pantry cabinet
This is the first piece i ever built about a week ago and delivered it to my wife on December 23rd. The piece is built from 3/4″ Birch Plywood sides and shelves w/ 3/4″ pine edge trim, 1×4 pine face frame and 1/4 pine plywood back. it is 84″ tall, 16″ deep and 30″ wide. It is finished with Watco “Dark Walnut” Danish Oil. My wife has made due with a terribly small kitchen for the past 6 years and I promised I would build this for her. She cried when i unveiled it to her Christmas morning.

Nicely done, both in the construction and the presentation to your wife. That always makes it easier when a new tool is UM "needed".
Impressive "first" project!!! How romantic to have made it for your wife and finished it on time! My husband is the carpenter and I have been blessed with somoe beauties...I do other creative things and love to think of the person I am creating for. A gift from the heart is the most precious.
CHRISTmas blessings!!! Lynnea
Thank you both for the comments! It is encouraging to hear that and I look forward to more works posted on here. This weekend I am putting together a temporary table top to mount onto my saw horses so i have some type of work bench to work on. Thanks again and Happy Holidays!
Great work. The fact that it is your first project, and the fact that it was for your wife, this added special significance to the piece. Add on top of that, really you did a good job.
Great job, really appreciate looking at genuine works, that took efort and great thought. Great first project and am an incurable romantic, and bet your wife was one happy woman.
Hoping for something similar to yours myself in the near future.
Great job! This is a first project to be proud of. If you guys are like most the piece will soon be too small for all of the "stuff" that will get put in there. That will lead to another project. Keep up the great work.
Thanks all for the comments. It was a fun project that definitely spurred the desire for many more in the future. Walt...You are right. The cabinet is now full and everything that was put in there from the cramped cabinets has us now pretty well spread out in the kitchen. I believe the next objective will be a Buffet Hutch. Then i'll just have to figure out where to put it. lol Thanks again for the kind words everybody. It is very encouraging. Happy New Year!
Nice job - esp for your first project!!
Impressive!!
Great design, great cabinet, great gift! Both beautiful and useful, it is no doubt beloved, as well.
