Two orphaned drawers adopted by a hall table
The somewhat whimsical title acknowledges that the drawers used were left over from a project that was abandoned some years ago. The wood is ripple sycamore veneer on ply (the top), bird’s eye maple (the lipping for the top, the frame and the drawer carcases), rock maple (the legs) and Tasmanian myrtle (the drawer handles, the inlay in the legs and the detail on the frame). Two sheets of tinted glass 3 mm thick are embedded in each leg, while perspex rod was used to attach the drawers. The finish is wax over shellac. The table is a wedding present for my son Joe and his fiance Anthea.
