   Sandy,

   very nice table. Very clean and looks beautiful. I love cherry and it looks like you found some real nice pieces of wood.

   I have two questions.

   What finish did you use, and is is totally waterproof?

   What is the mechanism for the sliding leaf. I have been thinking about making a table with this kind of expansion and am not sure how to get it to work like you did.

   The finish used is from Minwax. 8 coats with 400 grit sanding between each coat. I sprayed it on with an HVLP gun that is way better than the old compressor powered Binks gun I started with 40 years ago. It produces very little overspray.

   Go to this site to check it out. It is very durable. It has survived many spills.

   The sliding leaves acutally come completely out and are stored away most of the time. The rails that slide into the under side to the table are 28" long, leaves are 18" wide by 36" long. I got the idea from an old farmhouse table of my grandfathers.
