Spiral End Mallet
I own a raised panel cabinet door company, and sometimes we get to do an order out of exotics. Of course I never throw those scraps away. Just for fun I created this mallet using Bubinga and Hard Maple. The process was pretty intense, as I had to make router table jigs to safely make the spiral pieces for the inlay on the end. it was well worth the effort though. Production doors can get really old, so this kind of project reminds me why I love woodworking.—Enjoy!

very nice, good use of your spare time. Chris
Do you really want to whack away at a chisel with this nice peice of wood working?
Nice Job!
Kev!
stikk, Actually I do use it to "whack away" I have 2 different sizes that I use all the time. I find I whack better with good looking tools. LOL---Thanks
Outstanding work!!
I love the pattern. I also want to whack something with this. I dont own a lathe, but I think it would be very easy to get addicted to it though. This is a great piece and will hold its own in the contest, dont worry :-)
Really beautiful.
This project make me want to build a mallet too. Very inspiring. Well done.
Beautiful use of exotic wood!!!
I like the spiral instead of using straight lines. It is also a project made from actual scraps (not reclaimed wood) so it got my vote.
