Outfeed table built from scraps but very useful in the shop
Working in the garage means sharing space with cars, lawnmowers, bikes etc.. I needed an outfeed table that I could easily set up when I needed one, and also one that wouldn’t monopolize a lot of space in the garage. This one fit the bill since the design included foldup legs. Made from scraps of Cedar, Red Oak, Birch Ply, and Fir. I built from plans, but modified to fit my saw and needs. I attaches to the rear of the saw on a cleat screwed to the angle iron.

Your idea is great. I know of two people that have had table saw accidents. Each was ripping a narrow strip about 4' long. Because neither had a supporting outfeed table, while safely using a push-stick with their right hand, each fellow used their left hand to reach out and support the ripping. As their hand passed over the blade on the way to catch the narrow strip, a finger was caught by the whirling blade.
Both spent time in their local E.R., both had to have surgery so steel pins could be put in, and both required physical thearpy weeks later. All that is not counting the pain and time missed from their jobs.
Having an outfeed table, supporting the outgoing stock like you built, would have prevented them from causing their own accidents. And like my friend said after his accident last year, "I could have bought two big cabinet-style "Saw Stop Table Saws" for what was paid out in medical bills."
Great idea. I had done something similiar but hinged the extension to the saw. The problem was that when I dropped it down, it would hit the dust extraction hose so it wouldn't fold down flat against the saw and was putting preassure on the hose fittings. I ended up taking it apart. But your idea moves the hinge to the extension table legs. SMART! I shall rebuild.
I made an out feed table nearly identical to yours. When not in use, it folds up and hangs on the wall. Though an original idea, I am sure that you will agree that it is a good one.
