Narra Stationery Box
This is a small box I made for my wife for our anniversary. It is designed to hold 4×6 notecards, and has a separate compartment to hold pens, pencils, and other implements of destruction.
The dovetails are sawn, chopped, and pared by hand. The top and bottom panels float. The box itself was glued up as one closed piece, then sawn apart. A lip running around the inside of the body fits into a rabbet on the lid.
Shellac & Wax (inside), Liberon Oil & Wax (outside)

That is a great little box. Where did you get the narra wood and what country is it from?
Thanks! I bought the narra from a place here in Houston - they had a few old, grey boards in the back of their warehouse, and it doesn't sound like they are planning on getting any more (the guys there didn't seem all that sure as to why they had it in the first place.) As for where the wood comes from, the Internet (which is never wrong) tells me it grows in parts of Southeast Asia.
