Filet knife rehab.
After 45 years of sharpening and filetting thousands of fish, the birch handle of my favorite filet knife finally cracked and rotted to the point that I had to give it up… or fix it. Through the years of sharpening, the blade had just reached the perfect combiniation of flex and feel. so I created a new handle from Makore (African cherry), and now it should be good for another 45 years. …an afternoon well spent.
