Bench Seat
This bench seat was a chance design coming from a mistake by the CNC machine at my work. Each slat that makes up the seat is actually a leg for a small stool we manufacture for a designer. When each one was cut on the CNC it moved slightly, making them unusable. They were destined for the scrap bin but as they sat on the workbench in a similar format to how they are now the design was born in my head. I rounded and re-shaped the squarish American Oak parts to make them a more comfortable shape.
The base is Tasmanian Oak with a Red Gum stretcher that is joined with mortise and tenons and half lap joints. I’ve taken to painting parts of my furniture lately as it is a way of focusing on the highlights.
So let me know what you think. Happy to take comments or questions… Cheers.

I like the top very much. Its always the mistakes that turn out great. I design like that too! Never thought of painting parts like that, but I also like it. Great job
