Summer Storm

The Walnut for this hall table came from a tree felled by lighting during a summer storm. This is the first table I used butterfly shaped inserts for stabilizing the cracks rather than the familiar bow ties. It is also the first time I used stainless steel in my work, 3/4″ stainless steel rods join the leg sections. The legs are attached to the top with fox wedged tenons. Buttery inserts are Ebony and Wenge. Finish is an oil / varnish mix. Table is 33″H x 48″W x 22″D, completed July 2009.
