Side Tables, Coffee Tables, and Pedestals thus far.
The long drive home from school at Inside Passage near Vancouver, BC back to Minneapolis, MN gave me lots of time to think about what I was going to do once shop was set up.
The Midwest in general has a more utalitarian leaning mindset than other areas and the kind of craft community and passion surrounding my time at school is not as present. …And I was just looking for a little departure from angled joints and curved surfaces 😉
For me, the theme form was a bit playful though not in the way one generally may think. It was fun to play with subtlety. How little is too little? What will people notice? What will they pass? Will people be able to “feel” something that they just can’t articulate intellecually? Or maybe no one will care ha. It’s all a bit of an experiment.

I perhaps can't feel it from these pics, but I like the work. I do say I think the stringer on the long sides of your coffee table could come down even further, and perhaps with an extra half-inch in height to visually balance the scale of the coffee table vs. the end-tables. Very nice.
Do you do anything with the Minnesota Woodworker's Guild? (http://www.mnwwg.org/) I don't, but I saw a show of members' work at Soutdale last year. Might help you find one or two of those craftspeople to geek out with, if you haven't by now...
