Tilt Top Occasional Table

Ladybug, blood wood, wenge and brass.
My tilt top occasional table was made primarily of babinga. The top is made of more than 50 pieces of hand cut babinga and bird eye maple veneers. The 8 pieces of the rim are joined with sliding dove tail joints. The stand features octagon tapered supports. The leaf adornment was carved from 2 pieces of bass wood and the lady bug was just for fun. I fabricated the positive latch myself on my poor man’s metal lathe.
