Round parquetry table
Done with a bunch of leftover veneer scraps of Maple, Makore, & Mahogany veneers for the main field, Austrailin Walnut for the field border, a Maple line inlay and solid Cherry for the trim. The base is solid cherry.
The pattern is one of classic tile/floor design broken down to the trapezoid. I had seen a floor in the background of a commercial one day, and I thought it would make an interesting table. I cut all the trapezoids individually and then pieced the whole field together. The table base was designed “on-the-fly” after the top was finished. Some have called this piece the Escher table as he was fond of using the same geomerty in many if his drawings.
