Zen Breakfast Table
The Zen Breakfast Table is made from a salvaged Chinese Pistache tree cut down in Woodland, CA. Given the nature of the tree it seemed fitting to honor it with a Nakashima inspired design and let the figure of the tree speak for itself. The accents are made of California Black Walnut also from a tree in Woodland, CA.
The top includes bookmatch boards with hand-chisled butterfly inlays. The base was constructed using hand chisled half-lap joints and the legs have hand shaped edges made with the spokeshave. Overall dimension are 60″ x 36″ x 30″.

A very nice representation of natural grains and flaws. The use of butterfly keys to add strength and at the same time be visually pleasing is a plus. Very well integrated.
Unique, beautiful and stylish. A work of art.
Nice piece of art!!! I was in woodworking business myself, so I can appreciate it and see the beauty of the craftsmanship. Geat job!
I used to own a design firm for years...How i wish that i had this table in my showroom..I never would have sold it !! Look at the grain and shape !! It truly is a magnificient work of art !! Asian design has always been a bridge between all periods..I appreciate this table as it makes a bold statement...but accepts many complimentary art forms Bravo !
I love this piece. As an interior designer and a color intuitive this piece really speaks to me. The craftsmanship is amazing. Love, Love, Love this.
I covet. Beautiful. This would be the end of reading the back of the cereal box, now wouldn't it? Would you post a photo that shows the base from a different angle? Thanks!
I'm just finishing an ash trestle table, so I really appreciate the dramatic wood grain in the top and the nice butterfly work, but I worry about people fitting in if they try to sit at it for hors d'oeuvres.
I like what you did with the bowtie joinery and slab selection,a real going-green piece..I love slab furniture....but afraid the user would be uncomfortable straddling the legs so close to the edge....maybe the pictures are misleading?....Nice craftsmanship.
