KitchenTable and Benches
This kitchen set was suggested by my wife after I acquired some old church pew parts that were headed for the scrap pile. The benches, backs and seats are old pew parts that had no base and required a redo and new design. I rearranged the seats and backs to adjust to a different tilt back angle since kitchen bench backs are more vertical than church pews which are reclining backward for comfort and viewing of church activities. The new bases are white oak and were designed to support the bech seats and match the trestle table base. sizes of the set were adjusted for our kitchen and to mate with a large shaker cherry table that I made in 1968. The thought was to augment the seating arrangements for family gatherings. The new table and the benches could be inter-arranged with the other table. The table and benches were stined to match the pew parts and then top coated with several coats of polyurethane. The set is well used and much appreciated by family and friends.
