Mobile Serving Table with Padauk Trim
This mobile serving table has a full 1.5″ thick Oak hardwood top and muli-layered trim with Maple and Padauk for a pleasing aesthetic finish. With the locking 2″ swivel Italian made casters you can move it anywhere in an instant with minimal effort and lock it up to serve your very best food and drinks. With the 18 mm Baltic Birch plywood cabinet walls and drawers, this is an incredibly strong and sturdy cabinet that has been given a “floating” effect suspended between the 4 very unique Padauk and Maple striped legs. The drawer fronts have a 1/2″ Padauk cockbeading trim (mini-bullnose) that give the front a refined look.
The full extension ball bearing glides on the drawers provide easy access to loads of storage space behind the very attractive Padauk trimmed drawer fronts.
The Maple and Padauk striped legs consist of 3/4″ alternating strips of Maple and Padauk laminated together with Titebond III glue. These were very time consuming to make because of all the precise cutting, jointing, planing and gluing that had to be adhered to in order to have a uniform 3/4″ stripe size on all 4 legs. It took 2 full days to make the 4 legs!!
If I make another one soon, I will pay more attention to reducing the weight as this one is incredibly strong, but has the excess weight to prove it too! Drawers could be made lighter, back of cabinet can be made lighter, etc.
