dovetail saw
Wanted to post my first woodworking project since I have returned home from Mozambique. My father bought this saw for a dollar, it had a pretty beat up handle and was missing some saw nuts. I made a new handle for it out of walnut, and jointed and sharpened the teeth. (don’t be afraid to sharpen your own saws, it is much easier than making a dovetail joint!) The saw tuned out pretty good it tracks a line exceptionally well. The saw does have a slight bend at its end, but i am pretty sure I can take that out on the anvil.
Ok updated, I took the saw over to my anvil and did a little bit of light hammering to get the bow out of the blade, it only took a dozen or so taps to get the blade of the saw flat/strait. (Bob Smalser has an excelent artical on how to do this). So I now have an excellent dovetail saw and I saved it from rusting away in the dark corner of a barn somewhere.
