Writing/Computer Desk
Top is constructed of Black Walnut with a piece of curly Makore down the center. The styles are cherry, and legs are a combination of Cherry, Bloodwood, and Black Walnut. The legs have a half inch steel rod running down the middle for support.
The finish is clear stain and hand rubbed paste wax. This is the first time i have used wax and its the finish that ive been looking for.
The design is my own, it is inspired by a few pieces that i saw on this site, but I havent seen anything quite like this. Dimensions: 65″L x 31″W x 30.5″H

The wax might give you the finish that you are looking for, but remember that it doesn't offer much protection. It will need to be rewaxed every so often.
The legs are showy and novel, but I'd really like to see this design with a solid wood set of legs under it. It would show off the impressive table more so than the legs. Either way it's a fine piece.
Nice work but there are a couple of things that do not do it for me. I agree with oldshavings, the legs take a lot away from the table, and second (in my opinion) the aprons as well as the legs are just too thick for the top, makes me think of a VW beetle with moster truck wheels.....
On the other hand, kudos to you for trying to make your own design and not showing us another arts and crafts, green and green, prairie table. You seem to have the talent all you need is to refine your designs a bit more.
I think its pretty darn cool...But instead of a writing or computer desk, I see it as more of an art/design desk. I think working at that table would inspire some interesting and original work!
Very interesting and beautiful...it's really very interesting I keep seeing new things I want to look at and figure how it was done. The legs remind me of a stocking, and oddly I like that. I do wonder what the legs would look like with the edges rounded. It might add some flow from the top to the bottom, but it might screw it up too.
