Traditional Solid Mahogany Bookcase
I built this bookcase a few years ago, thinking I might be able to sell it at an open house my shop was involved in. I had a lot of interest, but no buyers. It now houses my Tolkein collection.
I built it largely from mahogany I had laying around the shop. The brass grill is expensive, but that was left over from another job as well. I did spend some money on the solid brass hardware – expensive, but worth it.

Be glad that you didn't sell it. It will become an irreplaceable heirloom. This is a very handsome piece of furniture.
Classic look to it. Knobs are in an interesting place. Very nice piece.
Thank you both for your comments.
The brass grill is an interesting feature. Do you use that a lot? I'm not familiar with that at all.
I can't say I use it a lot - 2 projects. It's very expensive. $300 for the 2 foot x 4 foot sheet. You see brass grill on a lot of very old traditional furniture. Bookcases in particular.
Doug, just saw a picture of one of your custom chairs, pretty cool: http://custommade.com/gallery-details.php?l=3144&cam=nonmember
