Cabinet, China Display
Description: Style: Asian-inspired, Type: Display-China Cabinet.
Materials: Red Oak, Red Oak plywood, Poplar, Birch plywood, matte black hammered hardware.
Finish: Miniwax’s Red Oak stain and wax.
This cabinet is my own design but inspired after Michael Hurwitz’s “Chinese Cracked-Ice Display Cabinet.” It is 71 in tall by 38in wide and 16 in deep. The carcass, doors and arch were made from 5/4 Red Oak, with ¼ in Red Oak plywood. The four Birch-plywood shelves were installed in Poplar frames. The one drawer, on sliders, provides space of 24 in wide by 13.5 in deep and 5 in height. The lattice work door was fabricated from 5/4 1-1/2 in Red Oak strips, rough band sawing the design, and using a homemade jig on a router table for final cutting; thence, cutting the strips in half, reversing one and gluing the halves together, mounting the assembly into a frame. The solid raised panel door was of 5/4 Red Oak installed in a tongue and groove frame. Unit was finished using Miniwax’s “Red Oak stain and Wax.

Very unusual and unique. I'll give it a thumbs up. Thanks for sharing.
Just when I think I can't be surprised again along comes another unique and beautiful design. Big thumbs up here.
although I've been woodworking for nearly six years, it's quality furniture like this that makes me retain the title novice. Great piece!
