danish modern lounge chair in cherry, white oak and leather
I began the design of this chair days after the passing of Sam Maloof. I have been fascinated with Sam’s work since getting to see it at the Museum Of Fine Arts in Boston when I was in High School. I chose to go back to where he began( in Danish Modern) and add a little of my own begginings ( American Empire) to come up with a trubute to, not a copy of, his iconic designs. Nobody did it better.

I also have been fascinated with Sam's work from the time I first seen it. I tend to enjoy his newer works. I didn’t get that chance to meet Sam, but did get to attend a seminar with Mike Johnson just last year. The chair you create looks great, nice job.

Saw this piece at the Eliot School a while back - I was the rookie woodworker bugging you about it! Beautiful work...
