My Dream Workbench
This Bench took two full weeks to build. One in Feb 2009 and One in Feb 2010. Ken Ginger from Michigan came to Ca to fight the dreaded winter weather in February to help build it.
We worked the first week on the Top and Legs, the second week we worked on the mortises in the top and installing the Vices.
A great project and an even better work assitant. It is a real bench that gets nicked and spilled on everyday. Flaten the top after 3 months and it holds everything tight and is a joy to work with.
If you don’t have a bench make one you will never regret it.
Length 8 feet 6 inches. Widith 23 inches, Top 3 13/16th thick, Benchcrafted Wagon Vice, Made of Hem-Fir with all the knots and imperfections you see. Weight is about 350 to 400 pounds
Best thing I like about the bench: I can hold anything and it and the bench don’t move

Very nice. Love the crank on the end cap
I am building a bench very seemilar to yours. I was wondering how you did your back vice, and if there was any thing you would change.
Hi There, well done on the bench. It certainly is a nice piece of work. I'm doing one myself out of solid beech but only 2 inches thick. I think this is enough.
I cant wait till its finished as i want to do a few things.
Did you include any holes for bench dogs, i'm not sure if i should bother. I might put a few in. Its easy enough i guess.
I like the storage for chisels and screwdrivers etc on the side. I 'll have to do same.
Cheers
Rich
