Shaker chimney cupboard
This cupboard was built for the gallery show posted earlier. Made primarily of cherry with milk-painted poplar for the seven shelves and back. Two of the shelves are adjustable in height, a departure from the original design. Poplar was used both to lower the cost and to make for a lighter colored interior. Shelves and sides are joined by sliding dovetails. The door frames are joined by bridle joints, my best assurance of keeping the doors flat. Finish began with a linseed based penetrator, followed by multiple coats of tung oil/linseed oile/varnish, hand rubbed with 0000 steel wool.
