PlaneOldWood.com Shop Tour
My shop is 21 x 27 with a stairwell out of it to a one bedroom apartment above, which I have converted to my office. I started turning the garage into a wood shop about a year-and-a-half ago. When I started, it had one outlet and two light bulbs. I have replaced both doors with insulated doors, replaced the old fuse box with a breaker box and wired it both for 110 and 220. I added a Jet 1 ½ hp dust collector and ran pipe to most of my machines. I have a utility sink that I need to plumb in so I don’t have to run upstairs all the time. The furnace and AC for my office is in the garage so it never gets too hot or too cold and when I need it I have a vent that I can open in the garage. I am still working on tool and wood storage and some shop furniture. I have a bathroom and kitchen upstairs in my office and I am thinking about making the bedroom a finishing room for things small enough to get up there. My tools includ a Delta Unisaw, Delta drill press, Delta band saw with a Kreg fence, a Powermatic hollow chisel mortiser, a Powermatic 15″ planer, a Delta DJ20 8″ jointer, a Jet slow speed wet sharpener, a Dewalt compound miter saw, an 8″ bench grinder with a wolverine jig, an Earlex 5000 series HVLP spray station. We are getting there but we still have a long way to go.

We are so proud of you. I'm glad you have this web page now so we can keep track of you. This sure doesnt look like your grandpas shop in WV. Keep us posted. Janae sure did a good job on that drawing for Paul Philippe Resource Center. So proud, you all have such talent. I'm glad you are using it for God's glory.
nice shop, i especially like your layout table. i did the same thing, electrically, with my garage/shop. i rewired everything to get 220 and 110 with multiple plugs. i thought i had gone overboard on all the outlets, but now i wish i had put in more. i wish i would have put plywood on the floors like you did. i hate it when i drop anything. nice job.
Very nice layout. I have a fair bit of tools but my garage has just morphed into a big mess without any planning. I look forward to taking everything out and redoing it with a nice logical work flow and storage like you have done.
Do you plan to add a nice big workbench and more traditional hand tools in the future?

I started working on a workbench a while back and have the legs done but I had to stop until the kids projects are done for school competition for this year. We have three in competition this year some I am in the shop with one of them about every night. I am really starting to move to hand tools as I can buy good one and lean to sharpen and use them properly. I will always have my machines for the heavy work but I would like to do the jointer and finishing work with hand tools.
Nice shop and nicely set-up.
I wanted to find out about the marking gauge you demonstrated in your video. I think I'd like to get one of those. Would you let me know the brand name and model?
The marking gauge is a Tite-Mark from Glen-Drake Toolworks. http://play-glen-drake.com/v-web/ecommerce/os/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=37&osCsid=1d08c6d47c2f7927cd0883baf288d53b
