Walnut and birdseye maple coffee table

This is the first of two sister coffee tables I made for two brothers. This one from a gigantic walnut log an arborist friend of mine took down and the other is from a curly cherry log that the arborists brother gave me. I milled the walnut log by hand with a chainsaw (which I regret) but it turned out ok I suppose. The apron is from fairly well figured birdseye maple board I picked up in Amish country but it didn’t come through very well in the picture. From standing tree to finished product, some of the most gratifying work I’ve done yet.
