Mesquite End Table
I found this Mesquite stump in the Texas Hill Country. Mated together with a slice off a piece of another stump it made a beautiful end table. I spent a couple of days carving off the bark and shaping wiht an angle grinder. The center of the slab had a hole which was filled with tiny shells and filled with epoxy. The top is fastened through pocket holes from the bottom with lag bolts, Mesquite has a reddish tint so I finished with 5 coats of clear spar varnish. It’s heavy (about 35lbs) and use it outside (on a covered deck) so I don’t worry about the wind blowing it away!

I like the idea of embedding seashells into the crack in the middle. It is a nice way to harness what otherwise would be looked as a flaw.
I have to give my wife credit for that idea!
