Sofa Table
After years of building barns, dollhouses and turning closets into nurseries this was my first attempt at furniture. Zebrawood slabs chamfered for the top with a walnut base constructed with pocket hole and mortise tenon joinery. My wife made me add the shelf after the fact. Finished with oil and wax. All pieces were planed by hand as I tried to learn this skill for the first time (thus the many uneven points).
I had much fun with this project and learned way more than the many months of reading about woodworking I was doing prior to actually starting this. This has really peaked my interest in learning more about hand tool work. While not perfect even in my eyes this has helped increase my confidence enough that I am posting my first photos to this site. This sofa table actually holds the two lamps my wife has been patiently storing for the last year until I finished it!!! Success!!
