Hi
Very nice av walnut stand
Can I get a set of plans ??
Best regards
Martin Colleran
Sorry, the only plan was a Google Sketch-up picture. Some details behind the design and engineering. The shelves are about 20” square with a bowed front (1” chord height). Shelves are a torsion box 3/8” (if I did it again would use ¼”) Baltic Birch with ¾” spacer, also Baltic Birch. The sides of the shelves are solid wood the surfaces are veneered. There is a ¾’ by 3-1/2” channel down the center of the shelves. The spine is 3/4 ” solid Walnut sides with horizontal dadoes that accept a ¾” x 3-1/2” x23” tongues. The tongues are glued in place and the shelves simply slide into place after with no other joint of fastener. The sides of the spine have ¼” dadoes running lengthwise to accept a ¼’ strip of solid Walnut for the front and back. The front inserts are glued into place when the sides and tongues are assembled. Holes for the wire grommets were drilled before assembly. The back strip slides into place from the top and removable to provide access for wire management. The ¼” thin strip back takes the bend no problem. The top is simply a drop in solid piece. The base is ¾” Baltic Birch with 3-1/2” tall sides. The sides have a rabbet to allow the top of the base to drop into place. The top of the base is 3/8” Baltic Birch veneered both sides. This leaves a nice cavity for the wires and a power strip. The there are two chunks of Oak (any hardwood) bolted to the ¾” base set to the outside width of the spine. The base feet are a nice decorative touch and also provide clearance for the bolt heads so I did not have to countersink the holes and reduce the full ¾” base thickness. The spine set between the Oak supports and have 4 bolts, each side, thru the spine sides thru the oak support. I tested a prototype joint using a Baltic Birch tongue and Poplar sides with a 65# load with no noticeable deflection.
