Shaker Style Hall Tree
This customer had a need for a place to take off his shoes and hang up his coat, but he couldn’t find anything that would not block his view out the back window. So he called me, and I gave him this design. A shaker Hall Tree with bench storage and an opening in the back to accomadate his window. This piece incorporates pegged mortise and tenon joinery along with floating panels. The two vertical panels along with the vertical stiles around the window are bookmatched panels so all the grain is the same. Even the horizontal panels in the tree and the corrosponding panels in the bench are all bookmatched. The custom cove moulding at the top caps it all off.

Very simple solution to your customer's wants. Very nicely done. Did you screw the high back to the wall?
Yes, I used a small "L" bracket at the top behind the cove moulding so it remained hidden.
And thanks for the comments. :)
