Quilt Room Furniture
my wife is an avid quilter and when we dedicated a room for quilting in our home she asked me to build a customized set of quilting furniture for her studio.
I made a sewing cabinet, a cubby (for her ‘stash’),an expandable layout table, and a display case.
All of these pieces were made out of a supply of red elm from my wood lot and each piece was made from a single log. All parts were solid wood except for the back of the sewing cabinet which is red birch ply.
It is awkward to post multiples so I am highlighting the sewing cabinet. The top is expandable with rule joint and gate leg. The raised drawer dividers were influenced by Sam Maloof.

I love this table!! Would you share your design with me?
If you want to contact me to discuss the design my email address is
[email protected]. I generally work from sketches and make my changes on the fly, but do keep a running log of what they are.
I usually don't review the old posts. Just happened to see it a couple of days ago.
