Rock table for hallway
I try to make furniture which contains some unexpected design element. In this piece, it was my hope that the extreme cantilever of a lacquered-finished walnut table top, off of a granite post, would cause the viewer to take a second look at this hall table. The granite rock is polish on 3 side. The right side is rough. The blue light emitting from the bottom of the table causes this table to have different “personalities,” which vary as a function of the ambient light. Assuming the wood would not break, one could put up to 50 pounds on the table, before it would “flip.” The bird mobile was added after the project was completed, as there appeared to be too much “empty space” under the table. In low level light situations, the birds appear blue/white, and are visually appealing.

This is amazing. Can you share the dimensions and angles of the granite?
