One Day
The design is no where near my current 20 x 20 garage setting, so one day I hope to make it a reality. I love natural light and often opt for under bench storage solutions which would allow for a large number of windows. I’ve kept the work flow moving in one direction, starting at the entry through the supply door (8′ garage door) into the lumber rack, across the planer and jointer and off to the table saw. It’s here that I differ from a number of other wood workers. I like to orient my table saw so that I can feed across it into the shop, allowing me feed sheet goods right from the truck if neccessary. From there items move across the work benchs for fitting and final touches before moving through the sliding doors into the assembly and finishing area. If there’s one thing I can’t seem to find enough time for it’s cleaning. So in an effort to keep that fine dust out of the shop that doesnt make its way into the collector I’ve added several air filters in order to keep the air crisp and clear.
I also see the shop being my spot for a bit of relaxation and as such have walled off the dust collector and compressors. I’ve also given myself a sunny spot with a view to do design work, kick back and watch a little tv or scratch the dogs ears.
