OM Acoustic Guitar
“OM size” acoustic guitar using East Indian Palisander Rosewood sides and back, Englemann Spruce top, Honduran Mahogany neck, and West African Ebony fingerboard, binding, peghead veneer and bridge. Used Paua Abalone shell for the inlaid logo and fret markers; Buffalo Horn for the string nut and cow bone for the saddle. French Polished by hand using homemade Shellac, Everclear and Olive Oil. Built from scratch (not kit).
Excellent sources for aspiring builders are (among others) the Guitarmaking book by William Cumpiano, and the video series by Frank Finocchio. William “Grit” Laskin has a good book on inlay as well as guitar building.
