We have done quite a lot of work in the last few years with recycled lumber. It always yields warm and friendly results, although sourcing quality material can sometimes be a complex and expensive process.
The wood for this particular project came from a various sources, as we required quite a bit for the cabinets and a 9′ table that were built to match. The cabiinet interiors are of ash plywood, stained to match the exteriors. The cabinet faces, ends, and tops (which are viewable from the balcony above) are all solid wood. one of the challenge involved installing a tv that was wider than the width of the interior of the cabinet ... we had to have it retract on an angle to fit it in, but it works slick

another challenge was provided future access to a kickspace heater under the left hand cabinet
which we did by making a separate 'chest of drawers' that slides in and out.
