Curvy Cot
This is my first major piece and was supposed to be ready for the birth of my first son. Unfortunately he got it 6 months late!
Laminated Silver Ash veneer with bendy-ply core, I found the challenge with this piece to be making all the jigs to form and cut the pieces. I counted the hours and it took me around 160 hours part time over 8 months to make.
I finished it with a organic toy-grade floor varnish and natural wax as the last coat for the sheen.
My next piece is going to be a box with no curves what-so-ever!!

Fabulous work and great design. Are the curved sides joined at each corner? Did you cut the curves at the top and bottom by hand or with a router template?
Thanks! The cot is in 4 pieces, if you look at the photo from above you'll be able to make out the joins.
The initial cuts for the top and bottom curves were done with a router template and faired by hand as the curves didn't look right initially. Also I couldn't route all the way to the ends as tearout was a problem, so finishing by hand was a necessity.
The cutting out of the 'grills' was 100% routed as it give me consistent shapes across all 4 pieces.
