Work in progress
As I only get to do fun woodworking occasionally, as opposed to maintenance/repair woodworking, this shop is “a work in progress”. I work full time and am renovating a unique house in Maine. It is unique in that it is built of redwood. Yes, redwood, no knots at all. The house was originally built in northern California in the 60’s. The original owner liked it, bought it, and had it dismantled and shipped east on a rail car. It was reassembled on a back cove on the coast of Maine. My wife and I have been renovating/updating ever since. My present shop is in a garage where I have to clear an area each time I need to do any work. To date the shop has helped me build an entire staircase from oak, a designer deck on the back of the house which I had to resaw redwood beams for posts ballister and rails. The list goes on and on. I have acquired tools as needed for projects, my latest is a radial arm saw, I found an old Dewalt in good condition. Why a radial arm saw since I already have a Dewalt mitersaw(which has been a workhorse in my shop)? Simple the house is an A-frame(60 degree slope roof) which means extreme angle cuts on a lot of wood. The miter saw cannot make as extreme an angle cut as the RAS. Like I said “a work in progress”
