Secret drawers.
I crafted this writing box for a client that wanted an exclusive and different box. The exterior and interior are all in cherry. The inlay bicolor band was made with holy veneer and Italian dyed green veneer. The corner fans were made with the same veneers. The central motif was made with English sycamore and Italian dyed green veneer.
I took inspiration from English boxes but I re-desiged the box to reduce its weight; this is the reason that the box has not lateral drawer, as was common in these kind of boxes in the past.

Very nice. Got a ? though. Does the upper portion of the leather writing surface lock down also? I see a key up there.
Yes, both portions have a key.
