King Bed Frame
It took a season and a half to design and complete this curly maple and lacewood bed. Aside from the joinery, which had to be knockdown due to space limitations, the biggest challenge was dealing with large pieces of highly figured wood; shaping and handplaning to thickness took some planning. The finish is oil/varnish, with a tea stain preparation coat. Permanent joinery is mortise/tenon and lap (headboard horizontal rails).
