Baptismal Font
I was comissioned to build a baptismal font for my church. This is my own design. Symbols for the Trinity are displayed on panels mounted between pairs of legs. The wood is 8/4 maple for most of the piece, cherry for the panels and aspen for the carved symbols. The finish is satin polyurethane. Casters are concealed in recesses underneath so as not to be visible but it is easily movable. The triangular ramps on top serve to stabilize the bowl and create the interesting effect of making the legs appear to pass through the top
