How well does work? Say, in comparison to a home-made cyclone.
I would much appreciate you explaining why
A - two bins ?
B - Also why two different size bins ?
And last but not the least...how efficient is it ?
We can see the pass through hole in the divider is offset...but is it enough to “separate” dust particle ?
All in all…in my opinion, you made a VERY nice fit & finish ...separator box!!

As a powermatic guy I think this is really cool- and if it works that's a bonus!
First let me say there are no air leaks in the box because I caulked all joints from the inside. Where the duct attaches to the inflow and outflow sides there are 45˚ elbows to deflect the dust particles allowing some to settle. There are 2 compartments to separate the larger particles first and finer ones second. The dust leaving the separator is very fine therefore not endangering the impeller blade.
Looks like it would kill your airflow. Have you measured CFM and duct airspeeds with and without?
Static pressure is the same with or without the dust separator.
