kid’s rocking chair (+free plans)
Just a simple 5-piece rocker held together with 2 tension bolts, easily colapsible for storage and transport. This rocker was based on Jeff Miller’s free plans available online, I modified the plans slightly to have a smaller profile and a wider bench as it was made for a 1 year old. She’s a little too small for it now, but will grow into it quickly (and her older friends love it).
This build was slightly technical as the chair tapers upwards and back, so the seat and backrest edges needed to have a chamfer that matched the desired taper. Took about 2 days to make the template, cut, paint, and assemble. Painted a high-gloss fun yellow with the heart cutout painted red.
Tools used: Table saw, jigsaw, router, drill press.
