Homage
This piece was created as an homage to my teacher Robert Van Norman’s mentor James Krenov. It began as reproduction but in keeping with James Krenov’s teaching evolved in reponse to the wood. The carcass of the piece is made of Catalpa, which at one point was a street tree in Vancouver. The base is of Garry Oak, the door panels are Myrtle, and the drawers are of Black locust and spalted Horse Chestnut. All the woods were sustainably cut and milled on the west coast. Finish is Oil and wax for the base and shellac and wax for the cabinet.

Fantastic use of many woods jiving in once piece. I'm sure your details are impeccable as the pics only hint at. Would love to see it in person. Nicely done.
