Market Perspectives
The inspiration for this small hall table are the stock markets and my experiences with them. A plaque is on a lower side rail, with small print, which is hard to find and difficult to read. It says …………….
“Footnotes,
1. Prices and volumes represent 13 periods.
2. Prices appear to trend up or down, depending on side viewed and one’s experience. Overall the price remains the same.
3. Wood species are Garry Oak (protected locally), Zebrano (central Africa) and African black Ebony (very expensive). Caution: some materials may not be accurately represented.
4. Insider view may be obtained using mirror.
Market Perspectives M.Tomkins, 2012″
Actually, the upper chart edging is PVC plastic and the Zebrano faces are shop made veneer. Mortise and tenon jointery was used throughout except the top is attached by screws to the end rails and the Ebony spacers in the lower bar chart sit unglued in grooves routered into the edges of the Zebrano bars, which are pinned to the long rails, all to allow for seasonal movement of the spacers and bars. The top chart pieces were mitered at various angles to form corners as tight as 25 degrees. Wipe-on poly varnish was applied before glue up. Size 30″ x 34″ x 8″.
