Pennsylvania Spice Box
I made this Pennsylvania spice box from plans published in FW #196 by Steve Latta. I modified the feet (I did not like the original flat bracket feet and thus made ogee bracket feet) and the arrangement of the drawers (I did not feel like making 12 dovetailed drawers by hand!) All the walnut comes from a single board. The diamond inlay on the door is Maple, which turned out to be a not so good idea (the contrast with the walnut is too great I think) The finish is oil and wax.

Quite nice !
Before starting did you have a specific purpose for the use of the drawers. (what are you going to store in this spice box ?)
The diamond in the door will probably mellow nicely in the years to come and have less contrast. It will just get prettier and prettier.
Alternatively maybe some colored wax rubbed on in the mean time would satisfy your desire for less contrast.
In any case way to go !
This is one of my favorite types of furniture.
Thanks for the kind words! I did not have a specific purpose for this box when I decided to build it. Actually, I usually build pieces because they teach me new techniques, not necessarily because they are useful to me. Therefore, I usually give them away as gifts. I suppose one would use this box to store jewelery nowadays.
Using colored wax on the inlay is an excellent idea! I will have to try it. Thanks! :)
