1750’s Style Block Front Document Cabinet
1750’s style Block Front Document Cabinet. I was challenged to build this piece after seeing the article by Randell O’Donnell in the 2005 issue(#178) of Fine Woodworking Magazine. As Randell states in his article, this cabinet is a challenging “Little Masterpiece.” I chose to make it out of some locally grown and air dried walnut; the beautful coloration and grain character seemed perfect for the piece. The ogee bracket feet (in lieu of bun feet in referenced article) are just my personal preference.

absolutely beautiful.
I was tempted by the article and may yet get around to trying the piece. I think the bracket feet are an improvement and certainly in keeping with other 18th Century Newport pieces.
