English Brown Oak Jewelry Box
A small English Brown Oak jewelry box for my wife. Made with Peruvian Walnut and Spanish Cedar. Started out as a “warm-up” project while I was building a wabi- sabi cabinet; just something to get hand skills going before I tackled the harder build of the cabinet.
The lid is frame and panel with the front edge sailed over to give it a bit of interest and to also act as a finger hold. The box is dowelled together and I used a coopering plane and hand gouges for the shaping of the sides and the lid. No routers so it was pleasant quiet work. A pretty simple build but it makes a nice gift.
I finished the box with Shellac and wax.
