This is the last of my “Steinway” projects. It was made from a few nicely figured odds and ends; scraps of walnut and birsdseye maple that were too nice to throw out. The curly walnut handle blank was particularly dense and difficult to carve, but the figure is gunstock grade.

This cane is made from curly American Black Walnut and Birdseye Maple. The spade foot and transitional birdseye bead are tennoned into the cane staff. The handle is epoxied, in place, with a six inch piece of 5/16" steel, threaded rod.
You'll notice that the leaves are carved differently from one side of the cane to the other. Unfortunately, I made a mistake in drawing the leaves differently, without having first thought about how I planned to relieve them. This side is the one I prefer, but I like the other leaves also.
